A parked car in direct summer sun can hit 150°F to 170°F inside the cabin within an hour. Your dash cam sits right at the top of the windshield, the hottest spot in the vehicle, baking behind glass that magnifies sunlight. The trade-off: supercapacitors hold enough charge to write the final file and shut down cleanly, but they can't power true parking mode. Cold doesn't kill cameras the way heat does, but it changes behavior. Batteries lose 30-40% capacity below 20°F, so a battery model may not start a parking-mode recording on a cold morning.
